Perfect to be had in cold weather, these Indian sweetmeat are incredibly healthy.
- 3/4 cup sesame seeds / til
- 1/2 cup jaggery/gur
- 3 teaspoons clarified butter/ghee
Dry roast sesame seeds till they become light brown. Set aside.
In a pan, heat clarified butter. Add jaggery. On low heat, allow the jaggery to melt. Keep stirring to avoid overcooking.
Add sesame seeds to the melted jaggery.
Mix and turn off the heat.
Let the mixture cool till it is semi-solid and can easily be cut.
Press it with the back of a ladle to spread it. Make it smooth by brushing it with the back of the ladle.
Now, using a knife cut vertical and horizontal lines to make large squares.
As there is no water in it, these sweetmeat can be stored for a month without refrigeration.
