This authentic Indian chickpea curry is a common meal at Indian homes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Salt and black pepper

Cooking

In the grinder, grind the tomatoes and onions to make a paste.

In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Put coriander powder, turmeric powder, cinnamon and onion tomato paste. Cook the paste for 5 minutes on medium heat.

Add the chickpea and 3/4 cup water.

Cook for 12-15 minutes on medium heat.

Your chickpea curry is ready! If you like it to be more spicy, sprinkle 3/4 teaspoon garam masala on the curry and mix. Have it with Indian bread/chapatti or steamed rice.

    I have been making Indian food for years, but never happened to make this curry. Me and my boyfriend had it with bread and it tasted delicious!
